New Bedford Lands $16 Million Port Infrastructure Investment from Department of Commerce
New Bedford’s fishing industry is set to get a boost via the Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) $16 million grant that will head to port infrastructure improvements aimed at protecting commercial fishing businesses.
The improvements of the Port of New Bedford will mitigate severe weather events and floods and create 40 new jobs, protect 378 current jobs and spur $4 million in private investment. Massachusetts Senators Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey applauded the grant.
