MSC Launches Sustainable Seafood Week in New Zealand
The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) launched the first Sustainable Seafood Week in New Zealand as it celebrates MSC certified fisheries in the country.
Currently, nearly half of New Zealand’s wild catch by volume is MSC certified including hoki, hake, ling, southern blue whiting, orange roughy, toothfish, albacore tuna and skipjack tuna. The MSC noted this as an impressive mark because on average 17% of the country’s wild catches are certified to MSC’s sustainability standards.
