FDA Looking for Input on Cell-based Seafood Labeling as Products Near Introduction to Marketplace
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a Request for Information, “Labeling of Foods Comprised of or Containing Cultured Seafood Cells,” as it looks to determine the next steps in proper labeling of cell-based seafood products.
With companies on the verge of introducing cell-based seafood into the marketplace, the FDA explained it will largely oversee the regulation and labeling of seafood, except for Siluriformes fish.
