Grieg Seafood Closes Operations in Skye, Taking Loss of NOK 100 million in Q3 2020
Grieg Seafood will end operations on Scotland’s Isle of Skye following the loss of 1,500 tonnes of salmon caused abnormal levels of jellyfish in the area. Also contributing to the decision were covid-19 impacts on markets and prices, and low harvest weights for farms in that area. The company will sustain a loss of NOK 100 million ($10.74m) in the third quarter of 2020.
Remaining fish in the area will be harvested through the first quarter of 2021.
