Petersburg Borough Requests Fishery Disaster Declaration from Alaska Governor Dunleavy
The Borough of Petersburg in Southeast Alaska is the third region in the state to ask Governor Dunleavy to declare a fisheries disaster for the area in the wake of record low landings and returns of salmon this year. In early August the City of Cordova in Southcentral Alaska asked the state to declare a fisheries disaster, and later that month the community of Chignik on the Alaska Peninsula also asked for a salmon disaster declaration.
