NOAA Funds 23 New Marine Debris Clean Up Projects with $2.7 Million
This year, NOAA’s highly competed-for funds went to projects from the Arctic coast of Alaska to Samoa in the west, and Maine to Puerto Rico in the east and Gulf coasts.
Of the total $2.7 million awarded this year, about 1.2 million went to projects in the Pacific, nearly $900,000 to projects along the Atlantic coast, and about $700,000 to projects in the Gulf of Mexico. Another $125,000 was awarded to two projects in Michigan and Illinois.
