Mississippi Environmental Department Awarded $7.6 Million for Oyster Hatchery, Research Center
A Mississippi delegation praised the $7.6 million award to the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality which will be used to build an oyster hatchery and research center to be operated by the University of Southern Mississippi.
The funds were made available through the Resources and Ecosystems Sustainability, Tourist Opportunities, and Revived Economies of the Gulf Coast States Act of 2012 (RESTORE Act) which provides funding for Gulf Coast states affected by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
