ASC Responds to Fish Welfare Report Published by GAA in May
The Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) is responding to a fish welfare report that was released by the Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) in May.
The report, which was authored by scientists at the University of Stirling, looked to provide guidance on “identifying and strengthening best practices for animal welfare in aquaculture.” Within the 56-page document, the researchers determined that of the three major international standards — ASC, BAP and GlobalGAP — ASC has the “least focus on welfare.”
