DFO Announces Recipients of $8.3 Million Fund for Ghost Gear Clean Up
According to the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO), more than 8 million metric tons of plastic winds up in the ocean every year. In an effort to protect the oceans and marine life, the DFO is awarding $8.3 million to 26 recipients as part of a project to clean up the ocean of “ghost gear.”
