Newport Water Issues Ease as City Works on Cleaning Filters, Backup Plans
Seafood processors are up and running again in Newport, Ore., as city water issues abated somewhat over the holiday weekend.
Iron has plugged city water treatment filters over the past couple months and staff have yet to determine the cause. Last week, seafood processors had to stop processing ahead of the holiday weekend in order to allow sufficient water availability for the hospitality industry. The Fourth of July weekend is one of the biggest tourism weekends for Newport.
