Peer-reviewed Study Shows Army Corps Downplayed Risk of Earthquakes at Pebble
More deficiencies have been found in the Army Corps of Engineer's draft environmental impact study (DEIS) for Pebble Mine, said an international team of seismologists and geotechnical engineers. The latest study of the DEIS shows that obsolete seismic studies and models that are no longer accepted by the scientific community were used. Commissioned by Bristol Bay Defense Alliance, the study noted that the draft also failed to collect information about seismic activity at the mine site, and included an underestimation of the project’s risks.
