Bristol Bay Sockeye: Returns to Date Compare Poorly with Five-Year Average
Last week was Statistical Week 26, which has traditionally been a week or two before the peak of fishing in the Bay. By now, an average cumulative catch from all areas would be close to 4 million fish. As of June 27, harvest has been 1.16 million sockeye.
Total escapement across all five districts is currently at 790,000 sockeye. Last year’s escapement at this time was 1.26 million sockeye.
