JAPAN: 2019 Fishing and Aquaculture Production 41.16 Million Tons, Down 5.8%
The total production of fisheries and aquaculture in 2019 was 4,162,800 tons, which was 258,000 tons (5.8%) less than 2018, the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries announced. Marine fishery production was 3,197,000 tons, which decreased by 162,500 tons (4.8%) compared to the previous year. Scallops and Alaska pollock increased, whereas mackerels, and saury decreased.
