Copper River Sockeye Landings Pick Up With 34,000 Caught Monday
The Copper River’s lackluster start for sockeye salmon got a boost in the third opener with 33,752 sockeye landed, 1,467 Chinook, and 779 chum salmon for a cumulative total of 45,537 salmon.
Escapement -- the salmon that makes it upriver to spawn -- is also growing, but still behind what had been projected pre-season.
