ANALYSIS: Rising Replacement Costs On The Squid Market

Frozen squid imported from China and Thailand have yet to see discounts emerge on U.S. wholesale prices amid the COVID-19 crisis. With most of the United States on lockdown since mid-March, the restaurant and foodservice industries, where squid is a staple item, have been majorly affected. Despite a drop in demand, importers are holding prices at listed levels, unlike other markets such as lobster tails, Dungeness crab, salmon and shrimp seeing week-over-week downward trends.
