Central California Crab Season May 15 Closure Confirmed
Central California Dungeness crabbers have less than a month to make their final hauls to bring in fresh crab. California Department of Fish and Wildlife Director Charlton H. Bonham on Wednesday affirmed his earlier proposal to close the season at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, May 15.
The decision applies only fishing districts south of the Mendocino/Sonoma county border. Bonham said the closure is necessary to protect whales and sea turtles from entanglement in fishing gear.
