China's Struggling Tilapia Industry Encounters More Trouble With Coronavirus Outbreak
China’s tilapia industry has been under great pressure within recent years. The country’s customs statistics show that its exports plummeted last year, and the industry has worked harder to expand the domestic market in hopes that it can fill the gap. The export of tilapia fillets, for example, has dived by 46% to only 77,000 tons. Meanwhile, that of whole ones has reduced by 19% to 109,000 tons.
