Nielsen Report: Consumer Buying Patterns Identified Amid COVID-19
The global market research firm Nielsen investigated consumer buying patterns in countries facing the corona virus and identified six thresholds in consumer spending as the arc of contagion grew and diminished. These patterns are still evolving, Nielsen cautioned, but can give manufacturers and retailers a snapshot of patterns that have been seen in many markets.
The six thresholds are:
#1 Proactive health-minded buying
#2 Reactive health management
#3 Pantry preparation
#4 Quantined living preparation
#5 Restricted living
#6 Living a new normal
