Mexican Shrimp Council Remains Committed to Protecting Vaquita Following NMFS Ban
The Mexican Shrimp Council says that they remain committed to protecting the endangered vaquita porpoise and other marine mammals following the National Marine Fisheries Service's (NMFS) decision to expand their ban on Mexican seafood.
As SeafoodNews reported last week, NMFS is revoking the comparability findings for the following fisheries authorized by the Government of Mexico:
-Upper Gulf of California shrimp trawl fishery for both small and large vessels
