NWAA Calls Environmental Plantiffs in Lawsuit Against Cooke ‘Out of Touch’ with Science
The Northwest Aquaculture Alliance (NWAA) issued a statement yesterday in response to a lawsuit was filed earlier this week against the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) for allowing a net pen operation for steelhead in Puget Sound. The plaintiffs -- Friends of the Earth, Wild Fish Conservancy, the Center for Biological Diversity, and the Center for Food Safety -- charge WDFW with violating the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) by not issuing an Environmental Impact Statement on the new aquaculture operation.
