Laine Welch of Alaska Fish Radio highlights how the United States has been flooded with Russian seafood since 2014, the year Russia placed an embargo on U.S. food products. The embargo featured Alaskan seafood, which accounted for $61 million in sales to the country. With no corresponding limits on how much Russian seafood can enter the U.S. the value of Russian seafood imported by the U.S. has grown nearly 70 percent since 2014.
