International Fugu Association to Open the Import Door Wider to the Singapore Market
Japan's International Fugu (pufferfish) Association (IFA) plans this year to increase Fugu promotion activities at the primary overseas market, specifically China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, and Singapore. Japan already exports toxin-free Migaki Fugu (dressed skin-less muscle) to the United States, Singapore, and Malaysia. Still, annual export quantities are limited at 400 to 700 metric tons a year, 160 to 400 MT, and about 1600 MT, respectively.
