China Continues to Take Severe Action Against Seafood Smuggling
According to Beijing customs in early January, the agency has cracked down on a seafood smuggling case worth more than 200 million yuan (~$29 million USD), while the tax evasion exceeds 40 million yuan (~$5.8 million USD). Customs held 15 suspects in custody and seized more than 20 tons of frozen seafood. This gang is said to have illegally brought in frozen seafood such as shrimps and fish from regions like South America and Vietnam, according to media reports.
