SE Alaska Golden King Crab Fishery to Open in February with Reduced Catch Limit
Douglas, AK -- Southeast Alaskas’s 2019/2020 golden king crab fishery will open with the Tanner crab fishery on Monday, February 17, 2020 with a guideline harvest level (GHL) of 41,500 pounds, less than half of last year’s GHL of 76,000 lbs.
This year’s quota is allocated among three areas -- Icy Strait area is limited to 7,500 lbs., North Stephens Passage is limited to 13,000 lbs., and the Southern area is limited to 21,000 lbs.
