Genome BC Fund Projects to Improve Canada’s Ability to Identify Oyster-Related Illnesses
After multiple outbreaks of oyster-related illnesses linked to the British Columbia oyster industry, the Ministry of Agriculture and Genome British Columbia (Genome BC) are funding three projects that will help Canada identify illnesses more effectively.
The projects will help identify strains of norovirus and Vibrio parahaemolyticus (Vp) and change the way shellfish-related illness outbreaks and safety investigations are handled.
