Farmed Sockeye Salmon Landed in Nemuro, Hokkaido
Experimental farming of sockeye salmon in seawater began for the first time in this fiscal year. It is in response to the salmon driftnet ban instituted in the Russian EEZ in 2016, which restricted the activities of the Japanese salmon fleet in the high seas of Russia.
