Bristol Bay Forecast is Strong for 2020, But Recent Record Runs May Portend Downturn
The Alaska Department of Fish and Game predicts anywhere from 36 to 61 million salmon will return to Bristol Bay in 2020, but experts note that the point estimate of 48.9 million “is a relatively high forecast," almost 30% larger than the long-term average of 34.6 million and 6% above the ten-year average.
