A new study from the UK shines a long-needed light on the relationship between discards and the millions of seabirds who rely on them.
Scientists from the University of Exeter with support from Germany’s University of Kiel, looked to the North Sea -- historically an area of high discards and very large scavender bird communities. Both are diminishing, and the authors describe the ecological impact of discarding is “understudied.”
