Seafood Industry Responds to “Fishing for Catastrophe Report”
Changing Markets Foundations released a report titled, “Fishing for Catastrophe”. The report finds that aquaculture supply chains are destroying wild fish stocks and depriving people of food sources in multiple countries. Retailers, NGOs and other stakeholders have responded and pushed back against the Dutch-based foundation’s report.
The report mapped the production of fishmeal and fish oil that are used in aquaculture facilities around the globe. An argument was then made that these supply chains are destroying “fish stocks, marine ecosystems and traditional livelihoods as well as undermining the food security of...”
