BS Snow Crab TAC Set at 34 Million Pounds, BB Red King Crab at 3.8 Million Pounds, Tanners Closed
Yesterday the Department of Fish and Game and the National Marine Fisehries Service (NMFS) announded the catch limits for Bering Sea snow crab of 34.019 million pounds for the 2019/2010 season. The total breaks down to 30,617,100 pounds for the IFQ fishery and 3,401,900 for the Community Development Quota (CDQ) sector.
This is a 24% increase over the 27.5 million pound quota announced last year. It confirms industry expectations that the quota would not continue to increase at the 50% rate it had last year.
