NL Squid Landings 40% Above 2018, Value up 50% With Another Month of Fishing To Go
St. John’s, NL -- A changing ecosystem has increased the abundance of squid around Newfoundland and Labrador, expanding landings well above those of 2018, according to the Association of Seafood Producers (ASP).
The increased volumes met challenges for both harvesters and processors.
“With the greater abundance, we needed to take care to ensure harvesters landed the best quality and that producers can produce the best quality,” said Derek Butler, executive director of ASP.
