Russia Eyes Increasing Harvests of Antarctic Krill, Toothfish, Other Species
Russia plans to significantly increase the volume of fish and seafood harvested in the Antarctic region, according to recent statements by senior officials of the Russian Federal Agency of Fisheries (Rosrybolovstvo) and domestic fishermen.
Ilya Shestakov, head of Rosrybolovstvo, said as part of these plans, particular attention will be paid to the increase of catch of Antarctic krill, along with squid, mackerel, icefish and toothfish.
