Massachusetts Attorney General Calls on U.S., Canadian Leaders to Protect Right Whales
In a September 4 letter, Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey urged Eastern Canadian Premiers and Governors in New England states to implement stricter regulations with the goal to protect the endangered North Atlantic right whale species.
Healy wants to expand current protections to reduce vessel strikes and fishing gear entanglements. The letter comes right before a meeting between six governors and five premiers in New Brunswick next week.
