Food Export Northeast Gets $20 million to help Lobster, Oyster Exports
Food Export USA Northeast, part of the group of non-profit trade associations that promote American exports at International Trade shows and business fairs, announced that they received $20 million in funding from the Agriculture Trade Promotion Program, to be spent over several years.
Although the program is open to all food exporters, a special focus will be on helping the New England lobster industry gain new markets. This industry has been hit hard by the trade war with China, with many exporters losing more than half of their markets.
New initiatives will also focus on growing international markets for seafood products, such as Jonah Crabs and oysters that are in ample supply and could benefit from market diversification...
