WTO Negotiations of Fisheries Subsidies Pick Up Pace as More Proposals are Tabled
World Trade Organization members in the Negotiating Group on Rules discussed four new proposals at the fisheries subsidies meetings that took place from June 10-15.
The group aims to agree to terms that will limit harmful fisheries subsidies. The goal is to agree on disciplines by December, giving them about six months to conclude negotiations.
The members plan to have text on key areas of the negotiations completed by July to move talks forward.
