Setting the Record Straight on Sharks for Washington D.C.'s Ocean Week
WASHINGTON -- The Sustainable Shark Alliance (SSA) is on Capitol Hill this week promoting fact-based conversations about shark conservation. In an interview with Channel News Asia, SSA's Rick Marks noted that a current bill being considered by Congress would harm responsible U.S. fishermen, without benefiting global shark conservation.
H.R.737, the Shark Fin Sales Elimination Act, would have no impact on the global shark trade but could punish law-abiding U.S. shark fishermen by banning the sale of responsibly harvested shark fins.
