Russian Fish Harvests Level Off, Decrease After Years of Consecutive Growth
Russia may be faced with the decline of total fish catch this year after several years of consecutive growth, according to recent statements of some leading Russian fishermen and experts of Rosrybolovstvo.
According to official state statistics, as of May 8, the total fish catch in Russia amounted to 1.78 million tonnes, which is by 1.7% lower than same period last year.
The biggest decline is in the Northern Basin, where total catch amounted to only 179,800 tonnes, which is 33.46% below the 2018 level.
