Alaska’s Bear-Viewing Industry Threatened by Pebble Mine
Another industry besides fishing has weighed in on how Pebble mine -- a proposed copper-gold-molybdenum mine at the headwaters of Bristol Bay -- could cost the state millions of dollars in lost revenues and hundreds of jobs if it is approved.
A new study by University of Alaska Fairbanks researchers highlights the strong and growing economic value of bear-viewing on the west side of Cook Inlet, where the Pebble Partnership hopes to build a major transportation corridor and industrial export facility.
