Despite Trade War, China's Basa and Tilapia Industries March Forward

A recent tweet from President Trump has claimed his intention of a trade war with China and correspondingly stirred up global basa market. It has brought US dollar appreciation, raised China’s costs in buying basa from Vietnam and also pushed more Americans to buy basa as substitutes for tilapias.
According to some processing plants in Vietnam, they have already got more orders from America now. And with greater demand of America, farm gate prices of Vietnam’s basa are expected to further raise, and the global market is likely to encounter problems of shortage and rising prices like it did last September.
In spite of more orders, Vietnam’s processing plants are not that profitable in American market owing to anti-dumping tariffs...
