Russia and Norway Prepare to Increase Barents Sea Whitefish Catch in 2020
Russia and Norway plan to significantly increase their volume of Barents Sea cod, haddock and other types of whitefish during the next several years, according to recent fish authorities from both countries.
Although for 2019 the quota for Barents Sea cod, which was set by both Russia and Norway, was a 7% decrease from 2018, to 725,000 tonnes. According to some sources in the Russian Federal Agency for Fishery, Rosrybolovstvo, Russia plans to push for an increase in 2020.
