Stirling University Scientists Question Environmental Benefit for Plant-Based Shrimp Feeds
As fishmeal costs have risen, and as environmentalists have targeted fisheries on ‘forage fish’, there has been a widely held assumption that substituting plant based ingredients for fishmeal and oil was a positive step for environmental conservation.
Now scientists at Stirling University in the UK, probably the leading aquaculture research institution in the world, have published a paper showing the issue in shrimp feed is not clear cut.
