Newfoundland Announces Plan to Provide More Offshore Industrial Shrimp for Local Processing
Gerry Byrne, Minister of Fisheries and Land Resources, announced a program to give Newfoundland shore processors more access to offshore shrimp caught in Canada's EEZ. Byrne says this program could see several thousand additional tons of shrimp processed onshore with a potential value of millions of dollars and significant job creation for rural communities.
