FDA’s Lifting of GMO Salmon Import Ban Strongly Criticized by United Fishermen of Alaska

Last Saturday, a day after the Food and Drug Administration lifted an import ban on genetically modified salmon, Alaska’s largest fisherman’s group blasted the move.
“For the FDA to lift an import ban on “frankenfish” without requiring clear labeling to show that these products are genetically engineered is a disservice to consumers and a blow to Alaska’s hardworking fishing communities,” said UFA executive director Frances Leach.
