Iceland's Sildavinnslan to Close One of Its Fishmeal Plants

Síldarvinnslan hf., one of Iceland's largest fishing companies, has announced that it will be closing down its fishmeal factory in Helguvík. According to a statement on the company's website, it plans to shut down the 22-year old facility in Iceland's southwest after this year's capelin season comes to an end.

Sildavinnslan says it took the decision due to a continued decline in capelin stocks in the area which resulted in the plant not being able to keep up with demand...
