West Coast States Delay Dungeness Crab Season — Again
Citing spotty meat recovery rates, the fish and wildlife agencies of Washington, Oregon and California said Friday the commercial Dungeness crab season from Point Arena, Calif., to the U.S./Canada border start will be delayed until after Dec. 30.
Testing showed light crab primarily in southern Oregon and northern California. Some areas had crab that were close to the threshold for a mid-December opening, but many fishermen and processors urged managers to hold off until the whole coast could open at once.
