Algeria Teams up with Egypt to Develop Nile Tilapia Aquaculture
Egypt and Algeria have signed an agreement to jointly develop nile tilapia aquaculture.
Taha Hammouche, the director-general for fisheries at the Algerian Agriculture Ministry, said that Algeria aims to draw from the experience of Egypt whose aquaculture industry produces about 1 million tons per year. Egypt is considered as one of the leaders in the field of aquaculture in the region, and will provide technical assistance to the project, Hammouche told local broadcaster Radio Algerie.
