Crayfish prices have risen further in several regions of the southern China, while more crayfish are served in restaurants in May.
Though their wholesale price is less than 30 yuan/jin (1 jin=0.5 kg; $9.42/kg USD) on average, some restaurants sell 3-jin crayfish at about 148 yuan to 168 yuan $23.24 to $26.38 USD). Consumers are complaining the prices are too high to be affordable, while restaurant owners are also unhappy about low profits.
