Worse Than Expected Canadian Shrimp Catches Push Markets Higher

Many of Europe's largest coldwater shrimp buyers have begun securing supply contracts to last into 2018, prompted by raw material prices rocketing on scarce Canadian supply, reports Undercurrent News.
Earlier in 2017 Canada's department of fisheries and oceans announced the country's coldwater shrimp quota for the 2017/18 fishing season will be down 62% year-on-year, at 10,400 metric tons. Sources had been anticipating price support from this, but until July this had not been seen to any great degree.
