Venture Fund to Support Sustainable Projects in Indonesia and Philippines

A fund set up to help coastal fisheries transition to more sustainable practices has launched. The Meloy Fund, a $20 million impact investment fund, will make debt and equity investments in “fishing-related enterprises that support the recovery of coastal fisheries in Indonesia and the Philippines.”
The goal of the Meloy Fund is to improve upstream margins in fishing communities through “supply chain efficiencies, waste-reduction, aggregation and value-added processing.” They fund could potentially improve the lives of approximately 100,000 fishers and their...
