Oregon Fishing Industry Uncertain about Future Access to International Terminal in Newport

Fishermen continue to grow increasingly concerned about their future access to Newport’s International Terminal as Port of Newport leaders appear to be giving priority access to shipping operations without consideration of the needs of the commercial fishing industry–the primary users of the facility for the last 30 years.
“The Port is preparing to sign leases and agreements to develop log shipping operations from the terminal that will potentially tie the port’s hands for the next 20 years,” Midwater Trawlers Cooperative Executive Director Heather Mann said in a press release. ...
